A region ignites the imagination: Past to Present

4:00 am - First day out-moving out (5:15am-5:30)  

The Gulf of Maine holds a magical spot in my imagination —---(Geo-coordinates)  So out of reach for so long as a kid I heard of the beauty of  Acadia National Park, albeit never made it up that far northward as we always spent the summers on Cape Cod, Mass-another magical place of childhood’s past. Things changed in 2023, when I had the opportunity to volunteer with the Rozalia Project, an organization which: seeks to clean the ocean using technology, innovation, and solutions based research through expeditions onboard the  60’ sailing research vessel “American Promise”(rozaliaproject.org)--- as onboard reporter. The week I was assigned the boat was moored in Winter Harbor, ME. A 45 min ferry ride from Bar Harbor, I had finally journeyed to the famed pristine natural  wonder of the Nation. The ambiance was primed for adventure, a cool wet late June day, led to a thick blanket of fog across the harbor. -Winter Harbor-2023 my first encounter with Fred Backman-harbor master-lobstermen and guide to the group of volunteers.
