Statement
Uncontaminated Sound: Reflections
Series: 2017 – Present

Born from a 2017 assignment for Paste Magazine backstage at Le Poisson Rouge, Uncontaminated Sound explores the candid, unscripted humanity of artists away from the spotlight. The ongoing series made its initial gallery debuts with back-to-back solo exhibitions at The Bowery Electric (2018) and Arlene’s Grocery (2019), establishing a visual archive deeply rooted in New York’s live music scene.

In a post-pandemic landscape where venues have closed and performance spaces remain precarious, Reflections serves as both a record and a testament to the enduring necessity of creative expression. Pulling around 70 images from the archive, this collection translates a half-decade of backstage intimacy, quiet self-reflection, and raw stage energy into physical print.
